109th Annual - NE State Open - August 18, 2007

The Nebraska Checkers Association held their 109^th Annual Nebraska State Open Checkers Tournament at the American Legion Post #1 in Omaha, NE on Saturday 8/18/2007.
The total entries of 14 exceeded last year of 13 and was the most entries since 1982.
The Swiss-System using 3-Move openings with 5 Rounds was the choice of play for this tournament.
Gayle Helterbrand of Cabool, MO. won the tournament, leaving Al Kopko to secure another State Title with his second place finish and his 5th State Championship Title.
The Nebraska GAYP Tournament will be held here on October 13th, 2007.
